Iran: News, Comment and Analysis
Imposing idiot sanctions on Iran is direct route to war
Britain has no interest in bullying Iran over nuclear proliferation. The very trap that led to Iraq and Afghanistan looms again.
The lying game: preparing for another war of aggression
Iran is the only resource-rich Muslim state beyond US control. As only Israel has a "right to exist" in the Middle East, the US goal is to cripple the Islamic Republic. This will allow Israel to divide and dominate the region on Washington’s behalf, writes John Pilger.
Obama mimics Bush: this time the target is Iran
By accusing Iran of having a secret "nuclear weapons program" and demanding that Iran "come clean" about the nonexistent program, adding that he does not rule out a military attack on Iran, Obama mimics the discredited Bush regime’s use of nonexistent Iraqi "weapons of mass destruction" to set up Iraq for invasion.
Iran and Israel - spot the difference
Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Iran is complying with UN resolutions and has opened its nuclear installations to inspection. It insists that it is committed to developing nuclear power for energy purposes only -- as it is entitled to do under international law. Meanwhile, Israel -- a country that has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty -- has a secret stockpile of nuclear weapons, as revealed 23 years ago by Israeli nuclear technician Dr Modecai Vanunu.
Iran: the lies, deception and hypocrisy
Here is Obama, with troops engaged in wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan demanding that a peaceful nation at war with no one demonstrate "its peaceful intentions or be held accountable to international standards and international law".
Where now for Iran? The case for truth, reconciliation and unity
A group of university educators and antiwar activists with diverse political views who are based in Europe and North America is active in defending Iran's national rights -- particularly those relating to the peaceful use of nuclear energy -- against the pervasive deception created by western and Israeli-influenced media and official statements.
Stop the War's statement on the crisis in Iran
The crisis unfolding in Iran must not become the pretext for renewed intervention by the USA or Britain in the region, nor for a whipping up of further tension around Iran’s nuclear programme.
Obama and Iran
Despite all the talk, Obama’s foreign policy has so far in practice changed very little from the previous administration. A policy of engagement needs to respect Iran as a serious player in the region and on equal terms.
