Tony Blair: "War criminal!" "To The Hague"

The Song of Mr Blair

By Heather Rutledge

(Apologies to Kenneth Grahame and to Mr Toad, who is a much nicer character than Tony Blair)

The world has held great Heroes,
As history books declare,
But y’know, I mean, I’ve a claim to fame,
Obviously, I’m Mr Blair!

The President said at Crawford,
(Me and Georgie, what a pair!)
He said, I love your balls, you sonofabitch.
I mean, wow, he greets me, Yo! Blair!

Lord Chilcot may think he’s clever,
Truth and law? Hah, what do I care!
Y’know, nobody knows nearly half as much
As decisive Mr Blair!

The Cabinet sat in Downing Street
Running their hands through their hair
Who was it said, ‘War’s going ahead’?
The ballsy Mr Blair!

The pilots all saluted
As their planes took to the air.
Was it the Queen or God above?
No, it was Mr Blair!

What do you mean, Iraq’s in a mess?
That’s not my fault, that’s Al-Qaeda over there.
If only they’d act according to plan,
They should listen to Mr Blair!

I mean, the people of Iraq, obviously,
Did not want Saddam to be there.
They’ll realise the deaths were all worth it,
Then they’ll praise me, Mr Blair!

I’m off now to churn out another book,
I’ve got a conference to prepare.
My speeches are priceless, I’m piling the cash.
Obviously, I’m Mr Blair!

What’s that, your son died in agony?
And you don’t think he should have been there?
Regrets? What the hell are you talking about?
Don’t you realise, I’m Mr Blair!

Maxine Gentle reads the letter she wrote to Tony Blair in 2004, a few weeks after her 19-year-old brother Gordon was killed in Iraq. "Nothing you can do or say will change my mind, or the fact that I am hurting badly inside. I cry myself to sleep most of the time because Gordon has gone and is never coming back." The War of Tony Blair's Ego

By David Toft

From Baghdad to Kosovo
He say I go
To war
Bombing Belgrade, then Baghdad
He say I go
And off we go
Not out of fear
Or for Jenkin's Ear
No, we go
For Tony Blair's Ego

Bush says GO
Blair say I go

And off we go
To fight for
Tony Blair's Ego

Brits, Iraqis fight and die
Soldiers and civilians cry
He think
Maggie did it with the Falklands
So Me going to try it with the Balkans
And Iraq

Cabinet cowards hushed and cowed
All morality disavowed
Just collective fear
For their career
And deep, deep dark shallowness...

So off to war we go
For the sake of Tony Blair's Ego.

"Blair smiled, he laughed during the day but he didn't say anything about our loved ones at all. I shouted that he was a liar because I believe he is. And he's a murderer. He has got my son's blood on his hands." Photo by Sinan Ersoy
