20 January | Manchester | Stop Trump!
Fri 20 Jan | 18:00-19:00
St. Peter's Square
Organised by: Stop the War Coalition, Stand Up To Racism, CND, Campaign Against Climate Change and the Green Party
On 20th January, the day of Trump's inauguration as President of the United States, Greater Manchester & District CND will be in the streets voicing our opposition.
We are joining with partners from Stand Up To Racism, Campaign Against Climate Change, Stop the War Coalition and the Green Party, to hold a rally in central Manchester to say 'No to Racism', 'No to Sexism' and 'No to War'.
Details about the event can be found here.
Over the holiday period, Trump made a number of worrying statements and announcements. These include:
- Tweeting that the US should 'greatly expand and strengthen its nuclear capability' (see here)
- Publicly and actively opposing the recent UN Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory (see here)
- Appointing James 'Mad Dog' Mattis as his Secretary of Defense, a man responsible for some of the worst crimes of the Iraq war (see here)
These build on the many offensive and dangerous remarks Trump made during his Presidential campaign, including calls for the reintroduction of waterboarding, undermining the Iran Nuclear Agreement and almost daily acts of casual sexism and racism.
Join us at 6pm on 20th January in St. Peter's Square, Manchester, with banners, placards and loud voices.
Say No to Trump!
