Following the International Conference Against War on 20 June we ask all supporters to take to the model resolution to union branches and groups. Please download.
No to militarisation and conscription – Welfare not warfare
Download the statement adopted at the conference in London on 20 June, which summarises the key issues and calls for three international days of demonstration and action. Get people signing up to support the statement now.
The government is pushing through massive increases in ‘defence’ spending. While the government fails to act over the climate crisis, it plans to spend 3.5% of national income by 2035 on the military, an increase of £35 billion per year. It is expected to fund this by cutting public services, social security and pensions. We believe this must stop.
Last month the government began recruitment for their pilot, military ‘gap year’ programme. This is a precursor to what they’re planning next – the reintroduction of conscription.
