On 9 November 2014, Richmond Stop the War in West London organised its own march to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.

Richmond Stop the War

On Sunday 9th November 2014, processions took place all around the country, commemorating Remembrance Sunday. One such march was taking place in Richmond where Richmond Stop the War Coalition’s Sam Oxby had set up a stall to give out leaflets, sell white peace poppies and promote peace.

Baroness Tonge, who was part of the procession, came over to the stall as the procession passed by, and stopped to have a chat with people and hand out leaflets for an hour or so. Walter Wolfgang joined in shortly afterwards and stayed to talk to people for an hour and a half. The stall was also attended by Professor John Tosh of Roehampton University and a local organiser of the Green Party among others. The stall was vibrant and successful with lots of interest from the public and good feedback throughout.

The British Legion’s ceremony also had a sentiment of peace and the vicar who ran the ceremony visited the stall to pick up some booklets and was supportive. It was great to see families, couples and people of all backgrounds visit the stall and share in the message of peace.
