Letter to the Foreign Secretary, David Lammy MP

Dear Foreign Secretary

We are outraged at the raid by Israeli forces on the Educational Bookshop in Jerusalem and the arrests of Mahmoud and Ahmad Muna. Selling books is not a crime.

The Israeli forces have chosen to attack a cultural and intellectual hub of the Palestinian people as well as a space where internationals in Jerusalem gather to learn and discuss current events, for no reason other than their role as a provider of education and a centre of community.

This underlines the campaign of erasure that Israel is waging against the Palestinian people, including genocidal violence in Gaza and in the occupied West Bank.

We call on the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs David Lammy, the British government and other states and international organisations to pressure the Israeli government to immediately drop the charges against Mahmoud and Ahmad Muna, rescind the attacks on the Educational Bookshop and end their attacks on the Palestinian people and culture.
