As warmongers gather for the NATO summit in Vilnius this week, anti-war activists took to the streets across Britain as part of Stop the War Coalition’s Day of Action For Peace in Ukraine.

On Friday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the meeting of Allied leaders “will send a clear message: NATO stands united, and Russia’s aggression will not pay.”

Against this drumbeat of war Stop the War sent a message of resistance. From the Durham Miners’ Gala to the south coast of Dorset, cities and towns up and down the land hosted Stop the War activists making the argument for peace.

The war rages on but public opinion continues to shift toward Stop the War’s position. The huge turn out and level of engagement on the streets reflect this, but it is vital that we keep up this level of activity, so we are urging local groups to hold monthly stalls and organise public meetings. If you would like to organise in your area but don’t know where to begin please get in touch!
